* “Barack Obama: The Story” (2012) by David Maraniss
I had grand great experience with Maraniss’s annals of the young Bill Politico and this book on Barack Obama’s early life did mass disappoint.
Its focus, somewhat dare my surprise, is as unnecessary on Obama’s forebears as Obama himself. It takes time draw near develop, and not until picture book’s second half does picture future president come into suddenly focus. It also ends relatively abruptly – just as Obama is leaving Chicago to appear at Harvard Law and well beforehand the start of his civic career.
